Check-ups and screens
Gestational diabetes screen (OGTT) now · weeks 24 to 28
A glucose tolerance blood test for every expectant mother, with an anaemia check. Higher-risk mothers are usually screened earlier as well.
Coming up from week 28: growth scan, weeks 28 to 32.
Typical windows from HealthHub, KKH and NUH. Your doctor decides your own schedule.
When to get help
Baby moving less than usual? HealthHub says: “If you feel that your baby is moving less than usual, monitor your baby’s movement for a while. If you are worried, see your doctor or go to the hospital immediately.”
HealthHub’s signs to act on, from 13 to 24 weeks:
Tell your doctor
- Vaginal discharge: if there is an excessively large amount or if it changes in texture, colour and smell
See your doctor immediately
- Vaginal bleeding
How big is your baby?
About 30cm long, head to heel. NHS compares it to a corn on the cob.
Leave and Baby Bonus
Coming up from week 30: tell your employer about maternity leave. Give at least 4 weeks' notice before your leave starts. For leave from week 36, the default start, tell them by week 32.
Which baby scheme applies follows the actual birth date. Born before 1 April 2027: the Baby Bonus Scheme. Born on or after it: the SG Child Support Package.
