Which decisions and deadlines are ahead?

  1. About 20 weeks before your due date: book confinement help if you want it (typical practice, not a rule).
  2. About 16 weeks before: check your baby’s support. Babies born from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027 get the Baby Bonus Scheme; from 1 April 2027, the SG Child Support Package. Read How much will the Baby Bonus and CDA give my baby?.
  3. Before the birth: plan your leave. From 1 April 2026, a couple gets 16 weeks maternity, 4 weeks paternity and 10 weeks shared: 30 weeks. Read How much parental leave do we get, and how should we split it?.
  4. About 10 months before you return to work: join preschool waitlists (a typical lead time). Infant care takes babies from 2 months.
  5. After the birth: register the birth on LifeSG within 42 days (S$18). Apply for the Baby Bonus and pick your CDA bank in the same flow.
  6. Within 4 weeks of the birth: change the Shared Parental Leave split on LifeSG if you need to.
