S$5,000 of CDA matching, only if you save. First child born by 31 March 2027: S$4,000 until 30 September 2027.

Quick answer

It depends on the birth date. A first child born from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027 can get up to S$25,000. That includes S$10,000 in cash once LifeSG’s top-up is paid. From 1 April 2027, the SG Child Support Package gives every child up to S$25,000. That is a S$10,000 Baby Gift, a S$5,000 First Step Grant, up to S$5,000 of matching and a S$5,000 MediSave Grant.

The useful number: The matching is the part parents miss. A first child born today has up to S$5,000 of CDA matching (S$4,000 until 30 September 2027), paid only if you save it in.

Which birth dates does each scheme cover?

For a Singapore citizen child with lawfully married parents, the birth date decides:

Born 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027
Baby Bonus Scheme, with the Large Families Scheme for third and later children
Born on or after 1 April 2027
SG Child Support Package, the same for every birth order

The package was announced on 23 August 2026. LifeSG decides who qualifies.

How much does each birth order get?

Born 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027:

1st child
S$10,000 cash + S$5,000 First Step Grant + up to S$5,000 matching + S$5,000 MediSave = S$25,000
2nd child
S$10,000 + S$5,000 + up to S$7,000 + S$5,000 = S$27,000
3rd or 4th child
S$10,000 + S$10,000 + up to S$9,000 + S$5,000 + S$5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant to the mother = S$39,000
5th child or later
S$10,000 + S$10,000 + up to S$15,000 + S$5,000 + S$5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant to the mother = S$45,000

The cash is S$10,000 for every birth order. LifeSG pays Cash Gift instalments until 31 March 2027, then a top-up by 30 April 2027 brings the total to S$10,000. The S$11,000 and S$13,000 Cash Gift schedules ran over 6.5 years, so no child born from 1 April 2025 reaches S$10,000 by then.

From the third child born from 18 February 2025, LifeSG also pays a S$5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant into the mother’s MediSave. It is not cash. For births from 1 April 2027, LifeSG says: “More details on additional support for large families will be provided at a later date.”

Born on or after 1 April 2027, every child gets up to S$25,000. That is a S$10,000 Baby Gift in 2 tranches within 12 months and a S$5,000 First Step Grant. Add up to S$5,000 of matching and the S$5,000 MediSave Grant.

On top, children turning 1 to 16 from 2026 get S$2,000 of Child Credits a year, first paid in April 2027. In the year they turn 17 they get a S$10,000 PSEA top-up. For a baby born in 2025 or later, that is up to S$32,000, or S$42,000 with the top-up.

How do you claim every dollar?

  1. Register the birth on LifeSG and apply for the Baby Bonus in the same flow. Choose your CDA bank: POSB/DBS, OCBC or UOB.
  2. Open the CDA when the bank’s instructions arrive. The First Step Grant goes in automatically.
  3. Save into the CDA. The Government matches it dollar for dollar, up to your child’s cap.
  4. Mind the cap change. Existing caps apply until 30 September 2027; from 1 October 2027 every cap is S$5,000. Save up to a higher cap before then.
  5. Born before 1 April 2027? Cash Gift payouts continue until 31 March 2027, then the Baby Gift replaces them. A top-up by 30 April 2027 brings the total cash to S$10,000.

A first child born in August 2026 with nothing saved shows S$20,000: S$10,000 + S$5,000 + S$0 matching + S$5,000. Save S$5,000 and it reaches S$25,000. The last S$1,000 is matched only from 1 October 2027, when the cap rises.

Which tool and download help?

The Baby Bonus + CDA maximiser picks the scheme for your date and shows the matching still to claim. Keep the Birth registration, Baby Bonus and CDA steps sheet with your documents. Next: the Parental leave planner, then the First-year baby cost estimator.

What is still unclear, and what does the tool leave out?

Your LifeSG app shows what has been paid. Check it after 30 April 2027, when the top-up is due.

Children born before 1 April 2025 had a S$4,000 MediSave Grant. Third and later children born before 18 February 2025 had a S$5,000 First Step Grant. The tool does not decide eligibility. CDA money is for approved uses, not spending cash.
